Pickles rejects appeal against solar farm refusal

Suffolk Coastal has welcomed the recent decision of the Secretary of State to dismiss the appeal of the planning refusal for a new solar park at Hacheston.

Chairman of the Development Management Committee, Councillor Bob Snell at Suffolk Coastal said:

“Suffolk Coastal is committed to encouraging well thought out development in the District, but not at any price. We also have a duty to protect our area’s unique environment and heritage. In this case, we felt that the suggested solar park conflicted with the Local Plan and would also have an adverse impact on the landscape in this rural area, as well as a negative impact on the nearby Parham Old Hall which is a listed building. I welcome the Secretary of State decision to dismiss this appeal and the recognition of the fact that we acted properly in rejecting this application.”
