Fuel mix

We are proud of the fact that we only supply green and renewable electricity from a diverse range of sources and technologies.

We buy electricity from non nuclear British sources.

Our company fuel mix splits as follows:

  • CHP 64%
  • Waste 21%
  • Anaerobic Digestion 10%
  • Hydro 4%
  • Wind < 1%
  • Solar < 1%
Certified Environmentally Friendly

We have two tariffs available:

100% green electricity

The electricity in our Pale tariff comes from something called 'combined heat and power'.

Put simply: when power plants make electricity, they give off a lot of heat at the same time. This heat would otherwise go to waste, but green energy uk's suppliers harness it and put it to good use.

We get our CHP from some rather surprising sources, too. Would you believe that growing tomatoes or heating water can also help power your home?

This is a low carbon tariff; the carbon emissions per kWh of electricity are less than half the national average.

And all this for the same price as your regional electricity company!

Environmental Impact

CO2 emissions 190g per kWh
Radioactive waste 0.00000g per kWh

100% renewable electricity

Our Deep tariff is as green as you can get. Using the power of falling water, the sun, the wind, and organic waste material, we provide energy that is 100% renewable.

Not only is this tariff renewable, but it helps to clean up and make use of waste products. Some of our generators even use pig poo, skip waste and used chip fat to make electricity! Brownie points all round.

So how much to clean up your conscience? Less than 50p a week extra. Bargain.

Environmental Impact

CO2 emissions - NIL
Radioactive waste 0.00000g per kWh

green energy uk facilitates investment into renewable technologies by creating demand for this green electricity.

UK National Average: Figures for the year to March 2011 are not yet available. Figures for the year to March 2010 are as follows: Coal 25.8%, Natural gas 47.7%, Natural gas Cleaner CHP n/a, Nuclear 18.0%, Renewable 6.6%, Other 1.9%. Emissions 410g per kWh. Radioactive waste 0.0010g per kWh.
